Just For Today Challenge, Day 1: 101 Things To Do Before You Die

Happy New Year! It’s finally 2010.

Today’s January 1st and it’s the first day of the Just For Today Challenge – 31 Days To A Better You.

For this first day, I’m going to take it easy on you. I know you partied hard last night (I hope you had a good time!) and you’re probably not feeling too energetic today. Plus, it’s a holiday today and you’ve had enough of people telling you what to do this week. Well, I hope you can stand one more person because I want you to complete today’s Challenge.

Remember that these aren’t New Year’s Resolutions. We all know that those don’t work. These Challenges involve things that you can do Just For Today.

This one will be an easy one and should take anywhere from a 1/2 hour to an hour to complete.

Grab a pen and some paper (or grab your closest computer). Write down the numbers 1 to 101 in a list.

Now, start thinking back when you were younger. Before life got in the way of your dreams.

Just For Today, imagine that you had all the money in the world to do whatever you wanted. What would you want to do, see, be during your lifetime?

Then, start writing down your list of 101 Things To Do Before You Die. This is your life and your list. No one will see this list.

What did you want to do when you were younger? Or was that last week? :-)

Did you want to learn to play the guitar? Write that down.

Did you want to climb Mount Everest? Write that down.

Did you want to stand in Times Square on New Year’s Eve? Write that down.

What about running a marathon or even just learning how to run? Write that down.

What to be in a good relationship or get married? Write that down.

Yes, you can write down the usual lose 10-20-30 pounds item, too. It’s January 1st, you can be assured that we’re all writing that one down

What about learning another language? Did you ever want to learn Italian? Or Russian? Or American Sign Language?

Did you ever want to see the Space shuttle launch or be an astronaut? Add that to your list.

Write down everything you want to do before you die. Make sure you fill in all 101 empty slots with what you want to do. Brainstorm on what you want to accomplish during your lifetime. Don’t stop at 100, write down all 101. If you get to 101 and you want to keep going, go ahead. Fill an entire book if you want.

This should come from your heart, after all, it’s your life. No one else is going to tell you what you should put on your list.

Got your complete list? Great. What’s stopping you from doing those things? Just by accomplishing a fraction of what’s on this list, you can change your entire life.

Can you just imagine what you could achieve on this list. It should be very motivating, especially for a new year. Do it before it’s too late. Find a way. Life is too short to live with regrets.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Challenge task. Will I go easy on you or will it be a hard Challenge? You’ll have to wait and see…. :-)

I would love to hear about what you want to do in your life. Care to share what’s on your list in the comments? Let’s share our lists.

Excellent post, pen and paper are the greatest tool in my box.

I’m glad you mentioned about dreaming about the future. Law of attraction is an excellent tip too!

Great post, well worth a Re-Tweet

Thanks, James. Much appreciated.

The goal is to write down what you want to do in your life and through the writiing, attract your goals into your life. The act of writing energizes your mental state and you become more creative in being able to recognize opportunities to fulfill your goals. Also, having the list in one place will help motivate you to achieve the things to do before you die.

Karen,

I’m going to check out your list after this comment!

I like what you said about ‘having the list in one place will help motivate you to achieve the things to do before you die.’ Being organised and starting with a pen and paper is all it takes to go foward even a little bit.

Great post and I’m Re-Tweeting this.
