Just For Today Challenge, Day 27: Find The Laughter Again

Love and Talking

I was in the lunchroom this morning when I suddenly realized that I desperately needed to fart. The music was really, really loud, so I timed my farts with the beat.

After a couple of songs, I started to feel better. I finished my coffee, stood up and noticed that everybody was staring at me.

Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my iPod.

A friend sent me this joke this week and every time I read it, I laugh out loud. Potty humour, I know, but it makes me smile. Partly because when he sent it I didn’t know that it was a joke, until he wrote “Just kidding” at the end of the email. It makes me wonder though, if he was actually kidding or not :-)

Life isn’t meant to be taken so seriously. When’s the last time you had a rolling on the floor laughfest? I think that it’s time to find the laughter again for the 27th Day of our Just For Today Challenge – 31 Days To A Better You.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. e. e. cummings

I agree – it’s such a waste of day if you didn’t find something to laugh about today. What are you going to do to find the humour today?

Do you have a best bud that when you get together all you do is make each other laugh? Call that person up on the phone, or better yet, see them in person and spend some time together having a good time today. See who can make each other laugh the most today. I have a couple of friends who share the same wicked humour as myself and it’s such a fun time when we get together.

Are you a animation-aholic, like me? I can sit for hours watching an animation marathon. It doesn’t matter if they’re repeats, either. Check out if there are any episodes of The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, The Cleveland Show, King of the Hill, or South Park are on today (I bet you that you can find an episode somewhere today) and sit and watch the cartoon antics of your favourite characters. If animation isn’t your fancy, then watch some other comedy show that makes you laugh out loud. I don’t care for particularly those gag or punked shows on TV, but plenty of people do. Whatever makes you laugh.

What’s your favourite comedy? Why not watch that movie again today?  Make some popcorn, pop in that DVD, and be entertained by the antics on the screen. If you have someone to share the movie with, even better. Don’t worry if your favourite comedy is Superbad or The Three Amigos, if it makes you laugh out loud then it’s a great comedy and has done its job.

Can’t find anything on TV or in your DVD collection that you find funny? Start surfing the net for funny jokes, YouTube clips, online comic strips, and comedy blogs. Some truly great ones are out there, you just have to find them. When you do, spend some time reading and laughing out loud. You’ll feel so much better afterwards.

My Mom got a cat last year. That cat had some kittens and have they ever revitalized my Mom’s moods. When she’s not yelling at them to get off the furniture, she’s laughing at their antics. I can tell how much better she sounds when we talk on the phone. There’s a lightness in her voice that wasn’t there before. Besides being company for her, they make her laugh. She has bad arthritis so laughing releases endorphins in her body and results in a natural pain-reliever. It’s made a big difference in her life. I know that laughing more can make a big difference in your life, too, if only Just For Today.

It’s okay to be silly once in a while. Life can be serious sometimes, but we can still find the humour in our every day. Laughing can also put things into perspective. Just remember that it’s okay to laugh with someone and never at someone.

What have you found funny today? Care to share a joke that make you laugh out loud? What makes you laugh? Share with us by leaving a comment. Thanks!

Karen, this couldn’t have come at a better time for me as today, so far, has been a really bad one. After receiving some news this morning I’ve sulked around the house trying to work.

I definitely need to have a good laugh today. When I get back from my meeting this afternoon I’m sticking a Jimmy Carr DVD on and I’m going to laugh until my tummy hurts!

Thank you. Need your post today

Hi Ben,

Sorry to hear that you’ve had some bad news today. Definitely give yourself a day to recuperate by watching that Jimmy Carr DVD so that it will release some endorphins for you to feel better.

When I’m frustrated and having a bad day, I try to remember, “This, too, shall pass”. It seems to help.

Hope the DVD helps you today.

Karen

Brilliant idea Karen :D

I have this toolbar in Firefox with this oh-so-magical button that I press whenever I get bored. It has this uncanny ability to send me incredibly amusing web pages/images.

It is, of course, Stumble :P Still works when I’m in a bad mood (though less effectively I’ll admit).

@Ben – hope you feel better soon, days like that aren’t much fun.

Thanks, Heather.

But, are you laughing when you are Stumbling? You have to laugh, not just be entertained by new sites that you stumbed. Going to have to fail you if you didn’t laugh today… :-)

I quite often giggle; family is starting to think I’ve gone mad. :D But yes, I laughed. Like a good recruit.

I couldn’t agree more. Laughter is the best medicine. I even find it works at the end of the day when I’m tired and cranky and the children are mucking about. If I laugh along with them, I feel better and they love it!

I’m all for laughter. Have you seen the film with Robin Williams as a medical student (can’t remember what it’s called) and he goes around using laughter to make the children feel better? It’s been documented to work apparently.

Great challege – I accept ;)

Thanks for the memory jog. I agree, very good! Haven’t seen it for years though. Need to try and get a cheap copy I think.

Hope your day has got better and you enjoyed Jimmy Carr.

Glad to hear that you accept the Challenge today, Eleanor :-)

I agree, kids don’t have all the pressure we adults do and they are great reminders to just live for today and enjoy the moments. They are so entertaining, as well :-)

Thanks,
Karen

Finally! I was waiting for someone to mention the joke and give feedback, so thank you, Eric.

I was laughing too when I got the email. I thought it was serious. I still crack up everytime I read it.

Glad that it made you laugh out loud and that you liked it :-)

Thanks,
Karen

That joke was funny! It sounds like something I would do haha!

Living in the now and enjoying the moments is so important. For example when I’m with my Grandma I make her laugh as much as possible because In life its the little things that count mostly. And the little things like making someone laugh go a long way.

Thanks Karen
